Poamoho Hike, Saturday, February 15, 2014 canceled due to weather

The National Weather Service has predicted rain today, tonight and tomorrow in the Wahiawa area not far from the Poamoho access road and trail. The Poamoho rain gauge is currently showing 4.21 inches in the last 24 hours which is extraordinarily high. The trail may be muddy but that is not a reason to cancel a hike. The trail access road is narrow and slippery with so much rainfall — even 4-wheel vehicles can lose steering control in the mud.

The risk to vehicle owners and passengers is simply not worth assuming under the present circumstances. The liability placed on the vehicle owners is simply too great.  Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club has decided to cancel the Poamoho Members only hike scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, February 15, 2014.
