Swap Meet Plus
Saturday, May 3, 2014 at HTMC clubhouse
HTMC invites you to a Fun Day on Saturday, May 3, 2014 for a day of learning skills, watching demos, checking out and swapping outdoor gear, and an evening of food and friends, new and old.
From 2pm to 5 pm, we will have a swap meet and demonstrations. Tentative list of demonstrations:
- Camping Stoves – Jim Yuen will show different stoves and discuss the pluses and minuses.
- Lightweight Backpacking – Jeanne Furukawa will show and tell about her lightweight equipment and how she uses it.
- Knots – Barb Bruno teaches you about knots and how to tie them.
-
GPS – Steve Davis talks and demonstrates GPSes and answer your questions.
-
Backpacking and Travel Foods – Larry Oswald & Kris Corliss will bring emergency food storage containers filled with freeze dried food and explain how we rotate the food out for backpacking & camping trips. We just got back from 3 months of RV camping, so we will demonstrate our favorite “travel apps for a phone or tablet”.
-
You may bring equipment for your own mini show-and-tell – Any volunteers? call or email Jim at 536-8180 or jim@htmc1910.org
The Swap Meet is restricted to hiking and camping equipment only. No outside commercial vendors allowed. Support HTMC by donating ten percent (10 %) of your sales proceeds to the club treasury.
At 5 pm we will have a Pot Luck Dinner. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share, or you may contribute $10.00 to the pot to defray the cost of the food. Guests pay $3 clubhouse use fee. RSVP via email Entertainment@htmc1910.org .
At 7 pm Richard Sullivan will present a Slide Show on Ramblings in a VW Westfalia Camper.
As in past years, we hope you will enjoy the company for friends and trail companions, both old and new, as we look forward to a summer of outdoor adventure.
