End of the year letter to HTMC members from the President

- by

Aloha HTMC Members,

I hope this message finds you and your families well. This year has been full of challenges and if you are like me, you miss the HTMC hiking community. We are looking forward to resuming our regular activities as soon as possible.

The annual membership renewal ($40) is approaching. If renewed before the end of December 2020 there is a discounted rate ($30). At this time, HTMC is reaching out to everyone, including lifetime members for any additional donations. With hikes, events and the clubhouse closed since March, our income has been impacted and we would appreciate help maintaining HTMC. Click HERE to renew, to donate click HERE or use the links on the bottom of the website, or mail to HTMC P.O. Box 2238; Honolulu, HI 96804. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

The Waimanalo clubhouse is now open under new rules to reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19. The clubhouse will be open for day use for members only with the new online reservations system. Every member who visits the clubhouse must adhere to the rules to keep everyone safe. Currently under Tier 2, four members may reserve the clubhouse. Hopefully when Oahu moves into Tier 3, the number increases to nine and under Tier 4 it is 24. Click HERE to make your reservation and for more information.

For those who are not aware, Events moved online using Zoom. The upcoming December 19th event is a slideshow of members’ images, submit images to participate.  If you would like to make a future presentation, reach out to event@htmc1910.org. Please note that past Zoom events are recorded and available via the link on each past Events page. Click HERE to visit the Event page for more information.

We are excited to resume hikes when we reach Honolulu Covid-19 Tier 3.  Please check the website HERE for an updated hike schedule. Once hiking resumes, please remember to follow the Trailhead Volunteers directions to reduce risks for everyone on the trail.

In the meantime, those of you who have been hiking are encouraged to take the HTMC hike survey, click HERE. HTMC created this survey in order to get updated information from our members about their hiking experiences during Covid-19.

HTMC is a volunteer-run organization and we welcome volunteers for any of our positions. The Board of Directors is always looking for members to join the board. The Website Committee is looking for volunteers who are proficient in WordPress and can help maintain the website. If you are interested in becoming a future clubhouse Resident, please reach out. All of our members are welcome to get more involved, to volunteer contact president@htmc1910.org

Wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday season. HTMC looks forward to a brighter future in 2021 with hiking, trail clearing and events with all of you!

Mahalo,

John Braum

HTMC President
