After February 1, you can renew your membership online using the link at the bottom right corner of the HTMC website: Late Renewal/Reinstate Membership (CLICK HERE to go directly to the page). Upon completion of the form, you will be directed to PayPal to process payment (credit/debit cards accepted). Please note that amounts listed include an extra $1 (or more for larger payments) to partially cover PayPal’s fees to process the transaction. Please be aware that membership renewal is limited to HTMC members in good standing.
If you prefer to write a check, please make your check out to Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Corporation for the appropriate amount less the $1 PayPal fee and mail it to HTMC Membership, PO Box 2238, Honolulu, Hawaii 96804-2238. Include the member name, phone number, email address, and mailing address on the check or on a separate piece of paper.
According to “A Brief History of the Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club,” when HTMC was formed in 1910, the annual dues were $5, which is the equivalent in purchasing power to $156.85 in 2022 dollars (adjusting for inflation).
Give the gift of an “HTMC Friend” membership to your family or friends. Anyone can qualify for an “HTMC Friend” membership as long as they meet the following criteria:
Be 18 years old or older.
– Participate in at least three official HTMC activities (events, hikes, and/or trail maintenance) within the 12 months prior to applying for membership.
– Annual Dues are the same as Members (see above).
– Fill out a Friend Application.
Make a donation! HTMC is a 501(c)3 (Public Charity) and donations can be deducted under IRC Section 170 (sorry, membership dues are not tax deductible). Please note that if you are considering a large donation, PayPal charges a fee based on a percentage of the total amount, so you may want to send your payment via check instead.
Your donations to the HTMC General Fund help pay for the day to day operations of the club, such as trail maintenance and supplies, liability insurance for HTMC, clubhouse utilities/insurance/maintenance, administrative fees like the annual audit, and activities promoting hiking, hiking safety, and environmental conservation and protection. HTMC relies on member donations to keep the club running.
The Endowment Fund was established to receive and administer bequests, estates, insurance, memorials and other assets, to be perpetual and perpetuating. HTMC can only use the interest income generated by this fund. Please note that for donations to the Endowment Fund, you should click the appropriate box online or write “Endowment Fund” on your check.
HTMC looks forward to sharing the trail with you in 2023 – no matter how muddy, steep, hot or challenging – may our hiking community continue to inspire each other and hike together responsibly in beautiful Hawai’i Nei!
Please email membership@htmc1910.org if you have questions or concerns.
*Please note that the current HTMC Board of Directors has discontinued the early-bird discount for membership renewal.
