Wiliwilinui

4 miles / Intermediate / Ridge / Wai'alae

A popular ridge hike that begins with a long roller coaster dirt road that transforms into a trail of steps leading to the Ko’olau summit. A good aerobic workout with rewarding views along the way and at the summit. *

A $5 donation is requested for each non-member, age 18 or over.

Elevation Gain: 1,600 feet. 

Trail Conditions: limited parking, erosion, rope sections, cliffs, tricky footing, steep ups and downs, mountain biking area, muddy and slippery when wet.

Trail Features: native plants and spectacular summit views. 

Trail Route: out and back.

Native Flora & Fauna: koa, ohi’a, alani and kopiko.

Moku & Ahupua’a: Kona & Waikiki.

Hawaiian Name & Meaning: Wiliwilinui large wiliwili (native tree)
