Ko’olau Summit Trail with Conrad Newfield

Join Conrad Newfield as he shares his experience hiking the entire Ko’olau Summit Trail (KST). In June 2023, he successfully completed the KST in the Fastest Known Time (FKT) – 2 days 8 hours. Conrad will discuss his planning, learning and execution.

Conrad was born and raised in Pupukea and currently lives in Manoa where he recently finished graduate school. In early 2023, he set a goal of doing the fastest time of Ko’olau Summit Trail in the unsupported, solo style that Chase Norton described. In March he did the first KST section (ignoring having previously done K2 to K1 and Ka’au Crater) from Pupukea to Waimano in two days. After finishing off the rest of the KST in three sections over the next months, he set out to do the whole thing on the early morning of June 24, 2023. 55.5 hours later Conrad embraced Makapu’u lighthouse. He still regularly hikes in the Ko’olau’s when the weather is good. He also bikes, trail runs, and canyons. Conrad’s KST story is also available on conradnewfield.com
