New Member Introductions-March

We would like to welcome our new members to the club with a warm aloha! In an effort to get to know our new members a little better, the board introduced an initiative for new members have the opportunity to share a bit about themselves and be featured in a newsletter article. Tell us something about your background?

Born and raised in Colorado, spent 8 years in the Navy

What made you want to join HTMC?

To do members only hikes and help out with the trail maintenance

What month/year did you join HTMC? How did you hear about the club

01/2026, Did a hike with a meetup group and some other people on the hike mentioned it

What’s an interesting fact about you?

I can shave my head, and face, if you’re wondering with just a straight razor. I have a small (7100 subscriber) youtube channel dedicated to shaving.

What’s been your favorite hike you’ve ever been on (either with the club or on your own!)? In Hawaii or elsewhere?

Oahu-Three corners via Mokuleia Access Road. Colorado-Mt Elbert (the only 14er I have done!)

What are you most excited about since joining HTMC?

Going out and doing some trail maintenance with HTMC!

Janice Townsend

What made you want to join HTMC?

Want to explore our beautiful island with new friends

Tell us something about your background?

Originally from Northern California, I am a dual US-British citizen. I spent over eight years living in London before moving here.

What made you want to join HTMC?

While living in London, I enjoyed hiking with Local groups and I hoped to find a similar community in HTMC.

What month/year did you join HTMC? How did you hear about the club?

03/2026, A friend who used to live on Oahu told me about the club.

What’s an interesting fact about you?

I enjoy drinking bubble tea. It even motivated me to start two clubs-one at my former workplace and one in London. If any bubble tea enthusiasts out there, please let me know. My favorite place here is Cowcow’s.

What’s been your favorite hike you’ve ever been on (either with the club or on your own!)? In Hawaii or elsewhere?

One of my favoirte places to hike is the Lake District in the UK. The Grassmoor Cicular really stood out to me especially the incredible ridge walk section.

Born and raised here, MD for school/work, moved home in 2020.

Every hike in Switzerland.
