The trail to the top begins at the end of Waianae Valley Road and traverses across several ridgelets. Once on the main ridge, be careful of the big boulder just before you reach the summit. Ka’ala is a montane bog with a fragile ecosystem protected by a boardwalk. Please do not stray from the trail.
Directions
From the trailhead, follow the ridge up to the left branch of the trail. Descend to cross over a stream and up the side of the next ridge. Continue on the ridge to the right to the top of Ka’ala. Be careful climbing pass the large boulder just before the summit. The top of Ka’ala is a bog; stay on the boardwalk to protect the fragile environment.
