Haleakala Crater Backpack

Overview

Start at the sliding sand trailhead which is near the visitors center at the summit (9,800 ft). Hike 9.3 miles to the Paliku cabin (6,400 ft). Spend 4 days and 3 nights at the Paliku cabin. On our last day, start our hike out early and hike 10.3 miles from the Paliku cabin (6,400 ft) to the Halemau’u trailhead (7,987 ft).
