Remembering Judy Marshall
September 1941 – September 2026
The Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club remembers Judith “Judy” Marshall, who joined HTMC in 2003 and became a much-loved presence at Waimanalo clubhouse events and the Mokule’ia campout.
Judy was a world traveler with a wonderful sense of adventure and a lifetime of stories to share. Grant Oka remembers her fascinating tales of working as a cruise guide in Antarctica. Carole Moon recalls Judy as a gifted storyteller who could talk for hours about her travels and adventures. Her stories were so interesting that Carole never minded listening. Judy also cherished her summer visits to her rustic cabin in Maine, where she fetched water from a well.
Closer to home, Judy enjoyed life in Waimanalo and the simple pleasures of reading, walking along the beach, and attending clubhouse events. She loved the outdoors; kayaking and camping with friends were among her favorite activities. She especially looked forward to the HTMC gang camping at Peacock Flats, where sharing food and stories by the campfire created lasting memories.
Judy’s commitment to the club remained strong as she grew older, and she continued to contribute to the HTMC community. She volunteered at the annual Holiday Luau and, in one of her more recent contributions, helped Mel Yoshioka prepare traditional Japanese New Year soup, *ozoni*, for hikers following the annual Koko Crater New Year’s Day hike.

Whether at a clubhouse event, around a campsite, or sharing stories of her travels, Judy was a memorable part of the HTMC community. Karen Liliker and Laura Owens remember her warmth and adventurous spirit.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Judy’s family and friends. Mel shared that Judy has found her final resting place in Pennsylvania, alongside her family.
Mahalo, Judy, for being part of the HTMC ‘ohana for more than two decades and for the many memories you leave behind.
