Newly Painted Clubhouse!

- by

If you have been to the clubhouse lately you may have noticed that it is looking refreshed!  This summer the HTMC clubhouse exterior got a fresh coat of light blue paint. The last time the clubhouse had been painted was back in 2009.

HTMC hired Renewed Painting, a Kailua based company owned and operated by Nick Winegar to take on this rather Herculean task. HTMC Board Member John Miller volunteered to be our liaison with Winegar. He visited the clubhouse throughout this project. John M helped troubleshoot any issues, kept the board informed of the process along with documenting the progress with photos.*

Winegar and his team had their work cut out for them! Before they could paint the outside of the clubhouse (walls, windows, doors, eaves and decks); they expertly handled extensive prep including some of the below tasks.

  • set up scaffolding
  • scrape all peeling paint and sand all areas that were scraped
  • add primer before finish paint is applied
  • grind down all rust and treat with a rust inhibitor, patch with Bondoe and oil primed
  • areas where the wood is bad was skim patched
  • all cracks were caulked so there were no gaps or areas for bugs or water to get in
  • use a wall sander on all walls prior to applying finish paint to ensure a good adhesive bond with the new paint
  • cover all windows, doors and concrete to prep before painting 2 coats of paint

We were very happy with and impressed by the quality of the work done by Renewed Painting.
