Joyful Wreath-Making with Myrtle
On Saturday, November 22nd, we gathered at the clubhouse for our 3rd Annual Wreath-Making Workshop with HTMC member Myrtle Wong. Under the Hau Arbor, members and guests learned wreath-making techniques Myrtle first picked up during her 11 years as a Recreation Director with the City and County Parks and Recreation Department. She’s delighted the craft is popular again and loves sharing its joy and creativity.
Participants came ready to tap their creativity, bringing their own wreath bases, greening pins, plant materials, and more. Although Myrtle provides an abundant selection of greenery, everyone is encouraged to bring their own—and many share generously. Some gathered materials on recent hikes, others collected clippings from their yards, and several brought holiday decorations to personalize their wreaths.
As we selected our materials, planned our designs, and pinned or wrapped everything into place, we were serenaded by live music from talented guitarist and Friend of HTMC, Michael Tanenbaum.
After finishing our masterpieces, everyone kindly posed for photos so we could share their beautiful results. The wreaths make wonderful gifts, can be hung on doors or used as table centerpieces, and bring nature’s beauty and cheer to the holiday season.
If you missed this year’s Wreath Making Workshop, don’t worry—thanks to Myrtle, it’s now an annual event many look forward to. Keep an eye on the event listings for next year!
