2026-27 Clubhouse Resident: Blaise Smith

- by

This April, the clubhouse warmly welcomes our 2026–27 Resident Caretaker, Blaise Smith.

Blaise has been an HTMC member since 2018. She was born and raised on Oahu, grew up in Manoa and hiking in her childhood. She joined the club when her daughters left home, embracing the opportunity to spend more time communing with nature. In addition to hiking, Blaise is an avid paddler and a member of Lanikai Canoe Club.

Over the past few years, Blaise has served as Chair of the HTMC Books and Records Committee, where she played a key role in organizing and digitizing the clubhouse’s historic archives. She has a deep appreciation for the history of both HTMC and Hawai’i, and is known for her enthusiasm in uncovering meaningful—and sometimes delightfully obscure—pieces of the club’s past. Many of you may already be familiar with her work through articles she has contributed to the newsletter. She has also enjoyed preparing the popular Hike Trivia Quiz for the Annual Holiday Lu’au, where she’s known for coming up with delightfully tricky questions.

As Blaise settles into the clubhouse, the archives will quite literally be within arm’s reach—so stay tuned for more historical insights and stories to come. She looks forward to welcoming members and their guests, attending monthly events, and participating in workdays.

If you haven’t yet met Blaise, be sure to say hello and introduce yourself the next time you visit the clubhouse.

Sending a heartfelt mahalo to our outgoing 2025–26 Resident Caretaker, Peggy Kwi-Suk Hong, for all she’s given to HTMC. Members can apply each year to be the Clubhouse Resident Caretaker, with applications due in mid-January. Curious? Check out the Clubhouse tab on our website to learn more!
