Waimano

The beginning of the hike follows an old and no longer used irrigation ditch that passes fifteen short tunnels. The trail eventually reaches a shelter constructed by the Boy Scouts and thereafter the hike eventually joins the trail built by the Civil Conservation Corps in the 1930’s that goes to a summit overlooking Kahalu’u and Kaneohe Bay.*

A $5 donation is requested for each non-member, age 18 or over.

Elevation Gain: 3,048 feet.

Trail Conditions: contour trail, slippery, overgrown, narrow trails with dropoffs, cliffs, challenging footing, flash flood zone, mosquitos and hunting area.

Trail Features: Boy Scout shelter, edible fruit, impressive stand of royal palm trees, old irrigation ditch tunnels, stream crossings, and a mixture of switchbacks, contour and ridge trail. 

Trail Route: out and back.

Native Flora & Fauna: koa, ‘ohi’a, alani, kopiko and many more especially near the Ko’olau summit.
