Full Moon Stroll: Waimanalo

All hikers who want something a little different will enjoy this magnificent beach walk in the moonlight. We will meet at the Clubhouse at 5:15 pm, walk to Hunananiho and back and hope to catch the moon rising out of the ocean at 5:53pm. Those who want to stay and enjoy dinner on the beach, we will hang out under the moonlit sky and enjoy all the moon’s glory. (BYOD) Bring Your Own Dinner (and blanket) and feel free to invite your friends! Please brings headlamps. (Please note: This is the day before full moon, but there is an event already planned for Saturday)

A $5 donation is requested for each non-member, age 18 or over.

waves, sticks/branches on the beach

Trail Features: Walking in the dark and watching the moonrise out of the ocean!

Hawaiian Name Meaning: Waimanalo literally means potable water.

Historic Information: HTMC’s historian, Blaise Smith found records of moonlight hikes up to Punchbowl, Tantalus, Black Point, Olomana, and Alewa Heights back in the 1920’s. I don’t think the Board would approve those moonlight hikes these days! So we will stick to the safety of the beach for this one.
