Pupukea Summit

A long road walk and a short romp gets us deep into the wild and muddy hills of Pupukea and the start of the infamous Ko’olau Summit Trail. Our return route takes us through the winding Kaunala Trail.

A $5 donation is requested for each non-member, age 18 or over.

Native Plants: loulu palms, ‘ohi’a lehua, maile, kopiko, hapu’u tree ferns

Moku & Ahupua’a: Ko’olauloa & from Pupukea ahupua’a, crossing Paumalu and Kaunala, to summit between the ahupua’a of Waimea and Malaekahana.

Hawaiian Name Meaning: Literally, white shell.
