Kahana Valley
This valley offers a network of criss-crossing trails with excellent swimming holes and mountain apples in season.
A $5 donation is requested for each non-member, age 18 or over.

Trail Conditions: Deep water at the dam crossing, muddy and slippery when wet, mosquitos, lush valley forest.
Trail Features: Mountain apple when in season, beautiful Kahana stream and swimming holes.

Moku & Ahupua’a: Ko’olauloa & Kahana
Hawaiian Name Meaning: Kahana = the cutting, or turning point.
Historic Information: In WWII, Kahana was part of the army’s Jungle Combat Center where soldiers were acclimatized and trained for the war in the Pacific. Some bunkers remain near the 4-way junction, and on some trail sections we still find the crushed coral the army used to build roads in the valley.
