Hikes

Ahuimanu

2 miles / Novice / Valley / Kahaluu

This trail is a great intro to hiking in Hawai’i. It is a nice walk through a diverse forest with some archeological sites. At the goal, we see one of the rock dikes which hold our water supply until we need it. This dike has a hole which provides a perpetual stream.

Please note: HTMC will be hosting the Auckland Tramping Club (ATC – our sister club from New Zealand) at this time and their members are invited to join this hike.

A $5 donation is requested for each non-member, age 18 or over.

Trail Conditions: Slippery and muddy in wet conditions, rocky, stream crossings, climbing over logs, narrow trail at sections.

Trail Features: Old rock walls, a rock oven and during rainy weather views of waterfalls.

Trail Route: Out and back.

Moku & Ahupua’a: Ko’olaupoko & Kahulu’u

Hawaiian Name Meaning: Flock of birds (bird = manu)
