‘Ohana Trail

4.3 miles / Novice / Foothill, Contour / Waimanalo

This relatively easy hike follows a mountain bike trail and offers peak-a-boo views of the Olomana Peaks and Kailua and Waimanalo. Trail starts with gradual switchbacks up to a ridge and then is fairly flat as the trail follows the contour of the Olomana Peaks in the Waimanalo Forest Reserve. Trail is mostly in the trees and shaded.

This is about a 4-5 hr hike or shorter depending on how often you stop to admire the views or stop to snack at the 5-Way Junction. The turn around point will be a view point just past the 5-Way Junction.

Reservations are required to join this hike. A sign up link will be added 2 weeks before the hike. Please do not attend this hike unless you have received a hike confirmation which will include the meeting location. Stay tuned for the sign up link. Mahalo!

Historic Information: This trail was built in 2013 by a group of mountain bikers – The Oahu Mountain Bike Ohana (OMTBO). They got permission from DLNR and they continue to maintain this trail. Here and there you will find rakes and other train maintenance tools stashed along the trail. Rarely will you find obstacles like downed trees on this trail.
