Ka Iwi Explorations 2024: Hike Guides & Sweeps Needed

This year the Annual Ka Iwi Explorations 2024 will be on Saturday & Sunday November 16th & 17th. This hiking event organized by Livable Hawaii Kai Hui (LHKH) provides public access to the Ka Iwi Mauka lands. LHKH is currently looking for experienced hikers for the role of a guide or sweep.

The main expectations for hike guides and sweeps are to:

(1) Lead a group of 12-15 hiker at a designated start time on November 16-17.

(2) Complete the orientation hike on the morning of Saturday, November 9th.

(3) Attend an online Zoom meeting during the week before to November 16-17.

Please see below for key dates. In appreciation for your time and skillset, LHKH will offer a $100 monetary stipend as an honorarium.

• 10/1-10/4 Week: Launch RSVP webpage and send email announcement to past hikers plus Ka Iwi distribution list (TPL)
• Wednesday, 10/16: Trail Clearing Workday (HTMC only)
• Wednesday, 10/30: Trail Clearing Workday (HTMC only) (*TBD )
• Weekend of 11/2-11/3: Trail Clearing Workday (*TBD).
• Saturday, 11/9 8:00-11:30am: Hike lead/sweeper orientation hike
• Week of 11/12-11/15: Final hiker orientation via zoom, close off rsvps, finalize logistics.
• Weekend of 11/16-11/17: Ka Iwi Explorations
