Aloha Tree Alliance: Volunteer Opportunity

- by

Aloha Tree Alliance (ATA), a 501(c)3 organization with a mission to help foster forest ecosystems in Hawaii, was founded in 2020 and has been busy seeking solutions to address environmental degradation and promote future forest stewards. Kuli’ou’ou trailhead restoration is a current initiative as land-use changes, invasive species, and erosion has led to forest degradation. ATA provides opportunities to plant native plants and trees, educational opportunities, and community awareness through this initiative. Volunteers are always needed. Please visit https://www.alohatreealliance.org/post/kuliouou-trailhead-restoration to learn more about the initiative and signup to volunteer.

As one of HTMC’s commitments as stewards for environmental conservation and protection, we have opportunities to get involved and further educate our members and guests on the need to respect our ‘aina and our indigenous species. ATA is also promoting the Adopt-a-Kipuka Program, where participation means adopting a section of the trail to weed, water, clear invasive plants, and beautify the area. ATA would provide training and tools. The commitment entails weekly visits for at least a year to ensure the plants survival. As HTMC members, if you are interested in getting involved in this service project, please provide your name and contact information to: kathyfujiwara.htmc1910@gmail.com. In the subject line, please indicate Adopt-a-Kipuka.
