Ron Miller photographs Ho’omaluhia to celebrate its 40th Anniversary

- by

Most every Monday morning I begin a 7:00 am hike at Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden with a few other hikers. It is always beautiful and different each time depending on the weather conditions. Ho’omaluhia may no be heaven but it has the same zip code.  The early morning hike from the front entrance to the back gate and back will give you over 5 miles of hilly road. You definitely get a good work out. Also, because the Botanical Garden does not open to traffic until 9:00 am you have the whole road to yourself not having to deal with traffic noise and inattentive drivers.  For those interested in photography, hiking at 7:00 am puts you in part of the morning golden hour where the lighting is best for photos and with time to compose your photos in the best way.  There are infinite possibilities to get great photos.  – Ron
