Manana Ditch

9 miles / Advanced / Valley / Aiea

This challenging cross-country hike traverses the rugged topography of the Manana and Waiawa drainages. The route eventually reaches an abandoned water ditch trail leading to a fine overlook. Be prepared for ups and downs and several stream crossings.*

A $5 donation is requested for each non-member, age 18 or over.

Elevation Gain: 2,667 feet. 

Trail Conditions: roller-coaster trail, overgrown, stream crossings, hunting and dirt bike area, muddy and slippery.

Trail Features: some limited views, edible fruit – strawberry guava, lilikoi, oranges. 

Trail Route: out and back.

Moku & Ahupua’a: Ewa & Manana.

Hawaiian Native Plants: ohi’a, koa, maile, ‘ie’ie, and kopiko.

Hawaiian Name & Meaning: Manana = buoyant.

Interesting Note: The last section of the hike follows the old Aherns Ditch trail.
